Lionel Messi scored his first goal for Inter Miami on Friday, curling in a classic free kick in stoppage time to secure a 2-1 victory over Cruz Azul in the Leagues

He was introduced as a substitute in the 54th minute, with Inter Miami trailing 1-0. He immediately made an impact, creating big chances and earning a free kick just outside the penalty area in the 94th minute.

Messi stepped up and curled the ball into the top corner, sending the crowd at DRV PNK Stadium into a frenzy. The goal was Messi's first in MLS, and it capped off a memorable debut for the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner.

Inter Miami had not won a game since May, but Messi's goal helped to end their 11-game winless streak. The victory also gave Inter Miami a spot in the quarterfinals of the Leagues Cup.
